Dana, 

 

    I thought that I might be best to answer your inquiry about our
involvement with youth. 

 

    We had interaction with 2 groups. First, we have some members who are
Sea Scouts. They have taken member courses. Many were also scheduled to take
the Boat Smart course last August, but their "ship" had a fire the evening
before so their scheduled activities were cancelled. The Commodore for this
region has asked us to put another class together for them in 2007 and
possibly explore how we may interact in other activities in the future. 

 

   Second, a group of 23 US Naval Sea Cadets did take the Boat Smart Course
(20 passed). The following day they also did some small boat sailing and we
took a power boat ride to show the area and examples of navigation aids such
as they are for a lake. 

 

   One of our general membership monthly meetings was a presentation about
the US Naval Sea Cadets and the Sea Scouts.
