[Psml] [USPS] Youth Activities

Members of District 5 supported the Sea Scout activities during the
National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill Va July- August 2005.

My Squadron, the Patapsco River Power Squadron has attempted to
coordinate activities with local ships, but have had limited success in
their interest. We did have a presentation that we thought would be
about the program and how we could be involved, however it turned out to
be a description of what steps we had to take to sponsor a ship, the
training required of our members, etc.

Ahoy all ...

I would very much appreciate hearing from *all* squadrons as to
whether or not you either *sponsor* (BSA "Chartered Organization"), or
actively *work with* (BSA "Consultant") a Sea Scout Ship (or any other
Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Unit, e.g., Venturing "Crew", Boy Scout
"Troop", "Team", or Cub Scout "Pack").

We do have access to computer records (not necessarily up-to-date or
accurate) from BSA for "Chartered Organizations" (Sponsors) of BSA
units, but *not* any other "affiliations".

In other words, if your squadron, e.g., teaches Boating Safety and
Skills to Scouts, or Scouting Units, but is not an official "sponsor"
of a unit ("Chartered Organization"), please share your activities
with us.

Obtw, not just Sea Scouts/Boy Scouts, but with *any* youth
organization, e.g., Girl Scouts USA, will do.

We would appreciate hearing from you *before* the upcoming USPS
National Meeting in Jacksonville, FL. We are trying desperately to
compile an accurate picture of your involvement in Youth Activities.

Please reply, asap, to <w6dbm at arrl.net>

Thank you, and

Fair winds,

-Dana
