Hello, List,

R/C Bill Husted, Chairman of the Government and Partners Relations
Committee, asked that I post the following information:

"Virginia H.B. 1627 has been thoroughly reviewed by the Government and
Partner Relations and other committees in USPS. I've (R/C Husted) been in
touch with our Virginia State Legislative Representative, P/R/C George
Bruner, and the D/5 D/C Kay Simkins on several occasions. Our USPS position
is in favor of the bill's passage in the interest of legislating some form
of mandatory boating education even though the issue of proctored
examinations is not specifically addressed. As all of us are aware, USPS is
very much in favor of proctored exams. It is our hope that this aspect will
be dictated later by regulation after the initial bill is passed."

R/C William E. Husted, SN
Chairman
Govt./Partner Relations Committee
United States Power Squadrons

Hope this clarifies the status of the USPS response to this bill.

D/1st/Lt Mary Ann Jensen, AP
