Hello John, Sorry for the late reply but I just returned home from a two
week stint chasing and photographing lighthouses up and down the west
coast. On to your comments.
I would hope that you start using the DVD's and get them into the YC's as
well as any marina that will play them. That is precisely what they are for.

I trust that you were successful in contacting USPS HQ to find if they had
additional copies on the shelf. I am sure that they do. I suspect that
there will be no repros of this disk in a large lot.

You mention that you do some editing for local cable as well as dvd editing.
Go for it and make up the "localized" spots that you want for you use in
your specific areas. That again is exactly what the project is for. You will
never get the custom product at a better price than by taking the
professional edition and adding your local touches. The disk has some spare
time at the end of each cut to do just what you are talking about. Please
remember that the intent of the National Marketing and Public Relations
Committee is NOT to to produce a one size fits all product for distribution
to be keyed to local markets -- but to provide tools that will assist
squadrons and districts across the country. but remember -- just like in the
toys that you bought for your kids a long time ago " Some assembly is
necessary". This assembly is where the District PRO in collaboration with
the Squadron PRO can be very effective and create exceptional products. If
you repro the disks for local distribution the cost would be acceptable for
support under the coop ad program as managed by the District PRO.

Re the NBC TODAY program that included a portion of a Tres Rios Power
Squadron boating class
The Long Beach portion was shot on May 19th. the total shoot took 5 1/2
hours. It was coverage of a boating class provided by USPS. It was NOT a
promo for USPS. USPS was part of the show segmment. .There is a difference.
Re the uniforms. The "Unform" was a VSC red shirt. This by design not
accident.
The NY portion was real time during the show 21 June and the Admiral was
the featured guest. I was very excited that USPS did in fact get national
coverage and the educational programs of USPS were shot. To my knowledge
this is the first time that such a thing has taken place. I was personally
honored and very proud to help put USPS in the framework of this TODAY
SHOW

Final note.. This piece is still and has been available on MSNBC. since the
day of broadcast. You can access the material by clicking into
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16486761/ or search for TODAY, then click onto
TRAVEL and look for the piece.
Please make sure that you have audio set up on your computer to hear the
program. I think that you will enjoy it much more with a set of "ears".

Thanks for the info about Utube.. Didn't know that it was there. Please
advise where you accessed the material.

Best and thanks

Darrell Allison

  Hi,

I just keep these on my table and folks are taking them home and then to
pass on to others. I haven't even let any go to other members, let alone
marinas.

I was curious at what the cost per was. I do a fair bit of video editing
for local cable and DVD production and have some ideas as to how these
things go.

If we could keep the costs down and half refundable through Co Op Ad
program a Squad like us could probably see some interest. If we included a,
"Made possible by (your local) marina" sticker, some may help defray
expenses or maybe another grant; then we could really give them away.

Re: The national news clip: I viewed it on Utube and due to my internet
computer audio drivers malfunction could not hear the audio. My impression
was that it was a USCG video. There were a lot of uniforms, also no USPS
logo. This was just my impression and am not sure if that was your intent. I
do applaud the effort.

  Then,

  John

John, Check with USPS Head Quarters. This was a limited production
run. There may be some left. Bob Green produced this program. He may have
some ideas that will be of interest. I havw added him to this post Thanks..

    Hi,

These 2nd National Safe Boating Test DVDs are great, thank you. How can
I get more?

I don't find them on the website. For a Squadron to be able to hand
these out with VSC and other public interactions, would be perfect, and fit
into the Co Op Ad Program. They say USPS all over them! One critique: The
photos on the front don't seem engaging, i.e. the face in lower right is too
dark.
