As of last month's National Meeting:

There is a three-year program now in place whereby local squadrons
*may* accept a new member *without* the prospective member having
passed a Boating Safety Course.  Note that the individual decisions
are to be made by each squadron.

Further, it was recently announced by EdDept (as I recall) that proof
of successful completion of certain, designated USCGAux courses may be
accepted for USPS Advanced Grades of S, P, and AP.  Check with EdDept
as to which USCGAux courses apply for which USPS Advanced Grades, and
for the the process for submitting a candidates proof of
accomplishment.
