This might be a great opportunity, If we could prepare a letter of invitation
and have it forwarded to the former USCGA members.
Would it be possible to supply the name of the nearest USPS Squadron.

To do it right, you'd want to personalize every letter with a snippet saying
something like "Podunk Power Squadron serves your area. Podunk's membership
committee chairman is Samson Post; Sam's phone number is 999-555-1212". That's
easy enough to do with a form letter and mail merge. Letters would be
individually printed -- not much more expensive than photocopying if you used a
high-end printer-copier.
USPS could provide a data table for the mail merge. We already have a tool
on the Web Site that takes a Zip Code and returns a squadron name. I think the
lookup includes a current squadron contact. If it doesn't, we can harvest
the information from the recent crop of OD-2's..
The rest is up to the Auxiliary. They have offered to send letters on our
behalf. They're not going to give us a mailing list of former Auxiliarists,
just as USPS wouldn't give out a list of former squadron members. If they're
willing to do a personalized mail merge for us, so much the better.
