I really object to the categorization of PARTIAL reimbursement for travel
expenses as "National Perks".
1. National eliminated one of the three national meetings as a way to save
money.
2. The cost of a room is normally about twice what the reimbursement rate
is, and while you can share a room, what does that do for married attendees.
3. 50% of the money spent on reimbursements goes to District Commanders and
District Education Officers.
4. I'm a national office. I'm a Staff Commander. I receive zero
reimbursement and have for the 15 years I've been attending national
meetings on my own nickel.
On your other point, this organization has VERY limited sources of revenue,
and the magnitude of those entire gross revenues pales in comparison to the
expenses entailed in putting on even a minimal national advertising
campaign.
Its easy to be in favor of Mom and apple pie. It's a lot harder to come up
with a business plan for national advertising that makes any sense in the
context of reality.
