This sounds like a liability nightmare for the squadron involved and any
member who undertakes this responsibility. It should be run by national for
any comments. Some issues that occur to me:
1. Would the members need C.G. licenses to do this? If so,
what level?
2. How would safety be defined? Would it include the stability
of the vessel, the number of life vests and life rafts, adequately trained
crew members, etc.?
3. What about liability insurance for the members and for the
squadron?
4. Why in the world is the commercial operator interested in
this in the first place?

Subject: [Psml] Squadron assistance to commercial tour boat
Just wondering if any squadrons have a working agreement with a commercial
tour boat operator for squadron members to act as first mates to assure
safety is observed during the cruise? One of our squadrons have been
approached by a paddle wheel excursion boat to see if members would be
interested in assisting in the tour to assure safety is observed. Any
comments would be appreciated.
