[Psml] Video Projector reliability

I can't help with information on INFOCUS. However, our squadron has
purchased 3 Panasonic projectors over the last 6 years. We teach a lot of
courses both to the public and squadron and they are often taught
concurrently, hence the multiple units. We went with Panasonic projectors
because they had a shorter throw distance and could be place much closer to
the screen while still allowing a large image. We have had zero problems
with any of them.

Subject: [Psml] Video Projector reliability

We, at the Boca Ciega Sail & Power Squadron, have had rather poor experience
with INFOCUS video projectors. The first LCD type unit we bought 5 years ago
was returned twice for warrantee repair and INFOCUS finally replaced it with
a LP540. We now have a second unit, a IN26 (DLP type) which was just sent in
for out-of-warrantee repair after only 27 months of sporadic use. We have
yet to replace a bulb.

Consumer Reports does not seem to have any reliability information on video
projectors.

What is your experience with these instruments? What brands and models do
you use? I would be glad to compile any information into a table and
distribute it.
