Sextants - Bah - Humbug.

As the squadron's JN and N instructor, I had a couple of sextants to
check over recently. The first thing I looked at was the battery
compartment for the lights. In both cases, the batteries had been there
way too long and they leaked and corrosion started.

With the popularity of the new JN and N courses, now is the time to look
at the condition of your squadron's sextants and get them in shape.
Since JN doesn't require sights at sunrise or sunset, leave the batteries
out of the sextants. If you have N students who would like to use the
lights, go ahead and install the batteries but make sure they are removed
immediately after the students have completed their sights.
