Though my name is not John and I don't know all the "future" plans, what I
can
tell you is that our national bylaws say we have to keep the member's
contact info and records PRIVATE/SECURE. As time goes by and technology
gets better and hackers, etc get more savvy, they will, if they want to, get
in to ANY system with older technology. With this is mind, ITCom has been
tasked with making the site more secure to protect YOU and your contact
information. Think of it this way, we see on PSML on occasion that someone
claims that they got spammed and it has come from USPS. With this, we,
those charged with providing software tools for our members, making it
easier on the membership to do the work they need to do to but sworn to
"protect" the members, have to move forward and keep up with technology (and
hopefully ahead of hackers). Now, is the addition of a PIN creating a steel
safe that no one can break in to? Probably not. And I know that by us
adding a PIN, we are in no way as detailed with security as the banks. This
is the least we can do.
I hope that helps. Times change and trust me when I saw 10 years ago trying
to get people to start using email was just as challenging. :-)
Now, if you are willing to let companies contact you via email or snail
mail, please let your officers know as USPS really could get great Member
Benefits from companies for YOUR purchase that you would get directly (40%
off in some cases - seriously) if we would allow a mass mailing and we could
make something like $10,000 for selling our snail mail list!
Hope this helps,
Kristi Anderson
