PSML Friends,
Last week I posted a question regarding Merit Mark record history.
Several of you offered suggestions. Lena Padro at Headquarters responded
also. She checked my records and noted that the 2005 Merit Mark was
missing. I went back to my 2005 income tax records and went through the
pages of my day timers. During that year, I recorded 103 hours with D 15
and 83 hours with D 13.
THE PROBLEM WAS. . .
My D 13 Squadron Merit Mark person did not ask me for information. She
just put down what she remembered. The Area Monitor rejected it basically
because "he was in the D 13 area less than six months, therefore was not
there long enough to earn a Merit Mark". I assume that the D 15 Merit Mark
person did not transmit the work I did in D 15 to the D 13 person.
I have snail-mailed copies of my 2005 activities to the Merit Mark
persons in both D 13 and D 15. Both are very efficient people. I assume
that my "problem" will be resolved shortly.
MORAL TO THIS STORY:
Check with the person being considered for a Merit Mark regarding time
spent and where it was spent (Squadron, District, and National). Perhaps
the time will not be enough if just one area is considered, but the
combination of all areas will be enough to qualify for a Merit Mark.
Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
