<DIV>Ray, I sense your frustration, however, recognize that the majority of
those who handle the other side of this situation are the same USPS
volunteers. As an example, several years ago at a GB during my
presentation about web sites I was ripped by a member that they had to fill out
all the lines in the squadron record when changing their email address as the
ITContact for their squadron. The individual questioned why it couldn't be
automated to access the headquarters files and fill in all the holes. Well
that happened. Now everything on the form references the individual
membership certificate number. The database accessed is supported by input
from the DB2000 program. I reported this at the DC meeting at the annual
meeting, in Dallas, that it was now up to the individual to advise their
squadron DB2000 administrator of any change in email address or other BDU
information. The squadron DB2000 administrator then must upload that data
to USPS. That has made it as simple as possible to keep everything
updated. There are lots of other features now built into the system.
All data is updated nightly and checks are made to assure all data such as email
addresses are valid. It is unrealistic to consider that all 45,000
members should be able to email or call headquarters and expect that sort of
information update be made by a single administrator. Please stop and
recognize that as this automation effort takes place there will be times when
what you do seems a duplicate, but over time it will be fixed. Remember
however that those fixing the problem are volunteer members just like you.</DIV>
