[Sec-l] Additional Roster Fields

To All,

There have been recent inquiries about adding fields to the HQ/Squadron 
Roster. Several of us have discussed the difficulties of adding fields. This 
is best explained by quoting Robert Baldridge's comments to one of the 
queries:

"Adding a field to the download is a big deal.  We've only revised the 
download file once since its inception about 15 years ago.  Since the 
education department is talking about making some changes, now might be the 
time to start the process.  Since so many users and installations are 
affected it takes about 18 months to complete a change..

First we solicit input.  Then we draft a plan for comment.  Then we work on 
the changes and a roll out plan.  We get the users to switch over to the new 
applications and we run parallel for a few year."

If any of you have suggestions for additional fields, either HQ or Squadron 
controlled, please send them to me. I have started a list and will be sure 
that all the suggestions are included in the decision process. Talk this up 
a bit in your squadrons and districts, and send me those also. Depending on 
the needs of the Educational Department, this solicitation of inputs 
probably will not go beyond the time of Fall District Conferences, if indeed 
that long.

rationale for that field being included.
