Hello All,

The Chief has asked me to send this out.

Regards,

Robert

Greetings -

As we enter the active part of the hurricane season a number of USPS
members may face the prospects of evacuation from coastal areas. In an
effort to assist, USPS National has created a special website called
“Storm Central” and can be found at:
http://www.usps.org/national/natsec/stormcentral.html

Currently this web page is listed under the Secretary's Department but a
link will be appearing on the USPS home page should be operational shortly
thanks to the efforts of the National Secretary’s Department and Dave
Hinders. The link was established several years ago as a USPS emergency
communication system designed to function like a bulletin board for
posting messages about:
· “where you are” in the event of evacuation (or related contact
information),
· contact information from members who are willing to volunteer their
house as an “evacuation safe haven” for other USPS members,
· messages from members who are in need of a place to stay and perhaps
have pets,
· are need assistance and help securing their personal property, or
· just need assistance period.

When other forms of communication, such as telephone or cell phone are
down for any extended period of time web based communication may become
the only method for communicating..
