We received the following reminder from National:
Cdr Sandy

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As we enter the hurricane and bad weather time of the year, more so than other months, please remind all in your District of our USPS website for emergency communications. It is called "Storm Central" and can be found at:

http://www.usps.org/national/natsec/stormcentral.html

Currently it is listed under the Secretary's Department but a link will be appearing on our home page shortly.

The link was established as a USPS emergency communication system (Storm Central) and is designed to function like a bulletin board for posting messages about "where you are" in the event of evacuation (or related contact information), information from members who are offering to volunteer their house as an evacuation safe haven, messages from members who are in need of a place to stay and have pets, or just assistance and help, etc.

If other forms of communication, such as telephone or cell phone are down for any extended period of time, at the very least, it may be helpful as a web based communication vehicle.

Regards,

Creighton
