Rosemarie, thanks for your email. I like your attitude about the webawards
program, for that's what it is all about. We all need to remember that not
just the webmasters of the individual websites are volunteers, the evaluators
and administrators of all this stuff are volunteers. There have been quite a
few emails on this subject and many indicate the awards program is used as a
learning tool. Having the scores for all the websites available for all to
see also appears to be a positive addition to the program.
Did we, the administrators of the program learn anything? You bet we did
and many of the points are already in the draft of the new rules for 2005.
Watch the USPS-webmasters mail list for them.
The evaluators have also indicated to me that they learnt a lot by having
the opportunity to really dig into about 13 websites each in the evaluation
process. Many came away with some little change they plan to make to their own
websites.
