Bob,
Tonight I received a phone call from boater Paul who had not met the
requirements for being awarded a VSC decal but was ready to reschedule.
When I did the original VSC he failed due to lack of Visual Distress Signals
and lack of a fire extinguisher. During his call tonight he related to me
that yesterday while fishing he was boarded by an officer from the Michigan
DNR who accepted the 7012 form from the failed examination plus a new fire
extinguisher and new visual distress signals as being sufficient to pass his
boarding exam. Boater Paul thanked me about five times for saving him from
a ticket and a fine. Reexamination will be the day after tommorrow.
