Dear Sirs:
Could any Senator please provide information on House Bill 3453, =
referring to boat tax relief for SC boat owners? It's been dormant in =
the Senate Finance sub-committee since January 10, 2006. For the past =
few years the SC House has passed bills that does provide relief from =
the 10.5% tax rate on recreational boats. Each time these bills failed =
to get SC Senate action.
Will that be the case again this year? This state and counties within =
the state are missing out on untold tax dollars because boat owners are =
registering their boats out of state to beat the high tax rate. Wonder =
how many Senators, if any, fall into this category?
An answer from any or all Senators would be greatly appreciated.
