Richard,
This all started from reports by others that they couldn't get Adobe to work
with their Vista. We have not delved into which Vista product each has
however. Prompted by your note and those from a couple others who told me,
since my first note, that Adobe worked for them in Vista I have gone further
into the situation. Here is what I have found:
When visiting the Adobe site it indicates that "Adobe Reader 8, Adobe Reader
Latest version for your OS Windows XP SP2 , English" When searching within
the site on "Vista" you will find there questions and answers pages where
they indicated that Adobe "...currently plans to release a free update to
Adobe Acrobat 8 and Adobe Reader 8 in the first half of 2007 to support
Windows Vista". However, if one selects Choose a
<http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html> different
version from the first page it will take you to a page where you can chose
Windows Vista leading you to the same Adobe 8.0 version listed on the first
page for only XP, SP2.
Based on this I suspect that, as the evidence would suggest that 8.0 works
for Vista but not without bugs or instability. This would explain why it
works for some and not others or not all the time.
With this information you can make your own decisions about when to upgrade.
Cheers and good luck,
Bob

Subject: Re: [ve-l] Vol 5, Issue 6 -- Adobe Reader for Windows Vista
I have Windows Vista Home Premium and have been operating for nearly two
months now with Adobe Reader -- with no problems whatsoever!
The Adobe Reader for Windows Vista is available for a free download at the
Adobe web site: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
One word of small caution: the Adobe Automatic Update for Adobe Reader does
not yet operate automatically; it must be manually initiated from time to
time. Adobe is working to correct this problem.
