Wow, I didn't know that so many people were active and interested in
Squadron web sites. Many of you echoed my own thoughts and experiences. One
sentiment come through all the messages - what's the benefit of the 'award'
program?
I think we all know the benefit of our web site. But, I don't know (nor do
many of you) what National is bringing to the table. It's clear that there
are a lot of Squadron resources are going into web sites; a lot of personal
time being devoted to maintaining sites.
I would suggest that a sharing of ideas, methods, and procedures would be a
bigger benefit that the examination of the many web sites required by the
'award program.' Perhaps there is a way we can discover the easier, better,
and more effective tools for our web sites. I'm thinking of calendars,
forms, photo albums, etc. The dozens of things that many of us have or want
on our web sites.
I volunteered to design and manage my Squadron web site because I was the
only one who could do it. I volunteered to 'evaluate' other web sites
because I thought that new blood was needed. In the long run, my goal is to
have better web sites throughout the USPS and I would be willing to assist
those who can make it happen.
Is this the forum for sharing ideas? Am I alone in this idea? Can we make
this a positive experience?
