In preparation for this years web awards program, one of the most important
items, is to develop an evaluators corps to do the review of the various
websites that qualify for the program. This is my first system wide request for
volunteers to be evaluators for this year. I have previously contacted last
years evaluators to determine who would be interested in doing it again this
year. So far the count is just over 50%.
The requirements for the evaluator are; a present webmaster of at least one
website for USPS, either at the squadron, district, or on the national
committees websites. An interest in seeing how other people develop their
websites, and a commitment of about 10 hours of your time during the month of
September.
The rules for the 2005 program are posted on the USPS, ITCom website at:
_http://www.usps.org/national/itcom/webawards/2005USPSWebAwards.pdf_
(http://www.usps.org/national/itcom/webawards/2005USPSWebAwards.pdf)
Our plans are to have the same general format for the scoring with the data
input on-line. A score sheet will be provided in Excel or Pfd format for
guidance in the process. Between now and the time of the evaluation period
questions pertaining to the process will be answered on the webmaster_forum mail
list. If you have not already subscribed it is a simple process which begins
on the home member page of the USPS website. This way everyone will have an
opportunity to have a clear understanding (let's hope) of the various items
to be viewed during the website visit.
As most previous evaluators will attest, the experience is enlightening, and
quite helpful at times in the design and development of your own website.
Please give this request your consideration. We need about 15 more
evaluators for this years program.
Yours for safe boating and better websites.
