Well said, Glen. I share your frustration with the national ITCom, especially as it relates to our web sites. They seem much more interested in enforcing their own rules and objectives than in helping squadron and district webmasters. My squadron and district sites consistently win Website awards, but I am one of the most vocal opponents of the award program because it does more to drive volunteer webmasters always than it does to encourage/help them. We've now lost three because of their irritation with the program. Until the powers-to-be in the ITCom change, I don't have much optimism for any positive change. If we have a group email for webmasters, why can't ITCom send out new graphics that should be used, the new VSC sticker when it is available, changes to trademark, disclaimer or privacy statements when they are updated and more? We have a way to share information, but we never share any, just instructions about what webmasters should include without resources. I do not link to the national privacy, disclaimer or trademark pages, because these statements cover USPS, but do no have any phrasing that specifically includes our local squadron. Our pages take the national statements and include our squadron name as well so we are covered locally. Now you are telling us that we must use the national links so we can always be up to date on any changes, but won't offer the option of notifying us when changes are made. We should use the new Americas Boating Club graphic, but you don't send it attached to the email, or even offer a link where we can download a good version of it. Is
sharing information that hard? If you want webmasters to update with new information or graphics, PROVIDE IT!
