It has been a long time in coming however not only has summer finally arrived but so has our official charter. Most members who joined in on the Charter celebration in June were quite pleased and we had a great time. Since then, the Chula Vista Yacht Club, Don and Sue Johnson have been pushing forward with our combined Saturday "learn as you go" events as well as the ongoing formal educational offerings by our SEO Ed Brunjes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are in the process of putting together another "Fun" event, General Membership Meeting" in late August or September (based upon our guest speaker's availability). We hope to make this a broader event with participation from the California Yacht Marina, Chula Vista Yacht Club, The Chula Vista Marina, Pier 32, The Cays and whoever else would like to participate/attend. So, keep your eye on the Emails with the USPS logo-there will be more to come.
As a reminder for all our membership, annual dues were accountable at the end of May, 2010. If there is any confusion, please contact Pete Nickless at saradadjoe@live.com for further clarification for reinstatement and or dues schedules.
Meanwhile keep the dates 22 August 2010, 29 August 2010, and 23 September 2010 open and hopefully within the next week or so we will have a stellar speaker and a meeting wherein all members will acquire their certificates, pins and stickers. We also will plan for the following year. Everything is on the table including desired educational programs, 2 hour seminars. On the water training, rehabilitating the squadron's sailboat training platform, and hopefully learning to sail.
I am looking forward to meeting and greeting you all at the Chula Vista Yacht Club for this and upcoming events as well.
