About the Ventura Power Squadron - What we are, Where we are, Who we are & Officers
WHERE IS THE VENTURA POWER SQUADRON?
The Ventura Power Squadron is located in Southern California. We serve our members and the boating public in an area that basically covers Ventura County, a coastal county in the northern reaches of Southern California. Ventura county is located between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Counties. Ventura county boasts two major small boat harbors. Ventura Harbor to the north and Channel Island Harbor between Ventura and Port Hueneme a deep water and military port. Our Harbors are the gateway to the Channel Islands. Channel Islands consist of Anacapa at the east end of the chain, Santa Cruz the largest, Santa Rosa and San Miguel at the west end of the chain. These islands along with Santa Barbara Island ,twenty-five miles to the south, make up the Channel Islands National Park. The islands lie between ten and twenty miles off the coast. They have very little development, but many great anchorages. In addition to our local islands we have access to Catalina Island. For inland boating there are several lakes, the Colorado River and the Sacramento Delta just to name a few.
