Vessel Safety Check

Waterbury Power Squadron has a team of trained Vessel Examiners available to provide you with a FREE Vessel Safety Check of your boat. This Vessel Safety Check will give you the assurance that your boat has all the documentation and safety equipment required by Federal and State law. The current Vessel Safety Check decal is visual evidence to law enforcement officials and other boaters that your boat meets all basic safety requirements.

Vessel Safety Check (VSC) is a national program of the United States Power Squadrons and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Both organizations field local teams of well-trained Vessel Examiners to conduct the VSCs at the invitation of the boat owner. This is a totally free, confidential, and voluntary service offered to promote boating safety. At the conclusion of the VSC, the boat owner/skipper is given a written checklist of how his/her boat measures up to the rigorous national safety standards. The results of the VSC are not reported to anyone else. If the boat passes the Vessel Safety Check, a decal is affixed indicating to all that the boat meets all VSC standards. Perhaps even more importantly, the decal shows everyone that this boat's owner believes in boating safety and takes the necessary steps to ensure that his/her boat is "up to snuff."
