Squadron Burgee:
DaytonaBeachS&PS,FL-DAYT01.jpg

Squadron Burgee Heraldry:
Envisioned in March 1955 by Richard Bush and designed by Bill Stephens, the Daytona Beach Squadron’s burgee was approved at the June 1955 Governing Board Meeting at the Hotel Astor in New York. The red field features a white circle in which three blue porpoises swimming in a circular pattern. The porpoises are thought to represent the route of the marine animals transiting the Ponce Inlet Jetty, up the Halifax River, down the ICW and back out the Ponce de Leon Inlet. The colors are adapted from the ensigns of United States of America and the United States Power Squadrons. At some point in the past, a red silhouette of Ponce de Leon was added to inside the porpoise circle and the porpoises were changed to a lighter blue. The silhouette is believed to be a reference to the Ponce de Leon Inlet and Lighthouse.
  • Updated reason for Burgee change of the Daytona Beach Squadron

At some point in the past, a red silhouette of Ponce de Leon was added to inside the porpoise circle and the porpoises were changed to a lighter blue. The silhouette is believed to be a reference to the Ponce de Leon Inlet Squadron merging to the Daytona Beach Squadron.
