Squadron Burgee Heraldry: The burgee of the Stamford Power Squadron was designed by Raymond Barger. Taking its colours from the United States Power Squadrons’ ensign, it features both a red triangular field along the fly with a smaller blue field from the hoist. On the blue field are two white frames, representing the “S” (Sierra) signal flags for the Stamford Squadron. In 1950, a major industry of Stamford, Connecticut was the manufacture of locks, Yale Lock Co. being typical. During that period, Stamford was colloquially known as 'Lock City'. Barger interlocked the two Sierra signals to symbolize the “Squadron from Lock City”. The platinum border represents the 75th anniversary of the Stamford Power Squadron’s service to its community.
