District 12, covering the Greater Boston Area

GBH planned to do this in June 2020

And you can guess what happened. But our single squadron booked 29 bunks in only 3 ˝ weeks. This idea was inspired by the Boston to Bermuda cruise some members took a decade ago. This is shorter, less expensive, closer, has great scenery, allows us to totally relax………… and needs no air tickets or passport! I’m sure that this will quickly sell out!

              Maine Windjammer

          3 Night Cruise

       Sunday Sept. 19 to

           Wednesday Sept. 22

I chose a 3-night cruise to keep the price as low as possible and to encourage participation by all. Power boaters get a taste of sailing and everyone gets to see Maine viewed from the water. If the weather is great, you’ll wish for more and if it isn’t, well, it’s only a couple of days. Have another drink and grab a book!

Drive to Camden and board a historic wooden 2 mast schooner on Sunday night. Monday and Tuesday we sail beautiful Penobscot Bay, stopping in two different harbors. Wednesday we return to Camden and depart the ship by noon. All meals are included as is a “modified open bar” - because the cruise is BYOB!!

By going in mid- September it will be warm and we qualify for fall foliage rates and additional 20% savings by booking the entire ship. A copy of the company’s 16-page brochure and more information is on our District 12 website www.usps.org/localusps/d12 . The cost is $636.00 per person. This includes the 20% discount, all taxes, meals and free parking.  If we fill 2 schooners the price drops to $596 per person! Tipping is optional, but is always appropriate for good service.

I chose this company because they have been doing this since the 1930’s, their rates were slightly lower than others, they offered group pricing, have been excellent to work with, parking is free and all the other ships have bathrooms up on deck. These ships have them down below……better for my 2AM visits.

OK, I’m interested. How do I register?

1-    Almost all cabins are doubles with bunks or double berths. There are a couple of singles. The company will determine whether we will be on the Mercantile or the Grace Bailey.

2-   Send me a one third deposit check of $424 per couple made out to Maine Windjammer Cruises. The check must be in my hands by Tuesday June 22!! Send it to Joe Kelliher, 3 Alma road, Walpole, MA 02081. (I believe there is one single cabin on each ship. For that call me first and then send $212.) Include your names, address, squadron, phone numbers and email. I will call you when your check arrives at my house.

3-    Each ship can take only 14 couples, two ships only 28 couples, total.

4-    On Wednesday June 23 I will call the company and tell them how many are coming and mail them all deposit checks. If we fill all 58 bunks on two ships the total cost will be reduced to $596.00 per person, and the deposits mentioned in 5 and 6 (below)will be adjusted.

5-    The second payment is due on July 18. Send them a check for $424.00 or call them and put it on your credit card by that date.

6-    The third and last payment is due on August 29.

7-    At this time, I will accept reservations for Power Squadron members ONLY. Sorry, no friends or relatives. I expect that this will sell out quickly and must give our members priority.

Any questions, contact Joe Kelliher
