Contribution Benefits

The USPS Educational Fund welcomes gifts and memorials from USPS members, friends, corporations and other foundations. The Internal Revenue Service has determined the EdFund to be a “qualified organization” under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and contributions to the EdFund are generally deductible from income, gift and estate taxes.

The EdFund is a beneficiary of many wills and has received numerous bequests. All such bequests, legacies, transfers and gifts are generally deductible for estate and gift tax purposes.

Squadrons making a separate contribution to the EdFund in the amount of one dollar or more times the number of active members on 01 December receive a Certificate of Merit and a place on the Honor Roll for that year. A district in which all the squadrons receive Honor Roll status is named an Honor Roll district, and a certificate to that effect is presented to the District Commander at the annual awards banquet held in conjunction with the USPS annual meeting.

All donations to the EdFund are recorded in the Log of Gifts and Memorials, and unless the donor specifies otherwise, the money is placed in the principal account and will not be spent. Capital gains and income from investments are reinvested until such time as they are utilized to fund grants made by the Trustees.

All gifts are acknowledged to the donor, and an appropriate announcement is sent to any person requested by the donor.
