Lake Superior

With all the time they have on their hands these days, Tom and Jan have spent it, among other things, planning our annual summer cruise. This year's destination is Lake Superior. For most of us this will be the first time cruising the largest fresh water lake on Earth. Please consider joining us for this fantastic voyage.

The Lake Superior Cruise starts July 14 Here's the plan, hopefully we can be boating by then:

Leave Grand Traverse Bay on July 14 heading for the Soo
July 14 Petoskey
July 15-16 Mackinac Island
July 17 Anchor at Harbor Island or dock at De Tour your choice
July 18 Kemp Marina in Sault Ste. Marie
July 19 Leave the Soo, travel through the locks, and overnight at Whitefish Point
July 20 Grand Marais
July 21-22 Munising
July 23-24 Marquette
July 25 Back to Munising
July 26 Grand Marais
July 27 Whitefish Point
July 28-29 Soo
July 30 De Tour or Harbor Island
July 31 Cedarville
August 1 Hessell
August 2-3 Mackinaw City
August 4 Harbor Springs
August 5 Home Port

As you can see, this is a rather aggressive schedule, but fun. The distances are doable, with most days around 40 miles. After watching a couple of GLCC webinars, we have learned that Lake Superior in the summer is no more dangerous than the other lakes.

As we have done in the past, all are welcome to do all or any part of the trip that meets your schedules and desires. Everyone is responsible for their own reservations. At this point Mackinaw Island is almost full, but other area marinas should be no problem.

Please contact Tom Stone or Bill Bailey with thoughts or questions.
