Erie Power Squadron

U.S. Brig Niagara - home port Erie, Pa.

Established in 1914, United States Power Squadrons or America's Boating Club is the largest fraternal boating organization in the World with 46,000 Members in 448 Squadrons in 35 Districts from Maine to California, several U.S. Territories and Japan. The USPS membership consists of both sail and power recreational boaters.

The USPS is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-enforcement fraternal boating organization dedicated to recreational boating education and civic service.

The Erie Power Squadron, started in October 1937, is in USPS District 7 and is located in northwest Pennsylvania, headquartered in Erie, Pa. The area is the home of Lake Erie and the Presque Isle peninsula.  The Erie Power Squadron is an organization of boaters who believe in boating fun, safety on the water, and boating education.  We teach a public boating course and offer many advanced and elective courses to anyone who wishes to become a member.  If you are a new boater looking to get started or an experienced boater looking to learn more, let us know.  Also, if you just want to get to know other boaters, give us a call.  We also have dinner meetings with speakers every month and fun summer activities.

The Erie Power Squadron membership consists of a cross section of power boaters and sailors from the Erie, PA and surrounding areas. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month and we meet at the Erie Yacht Club, unless otherwise noted in the schedule or newsletter, at 7:00 PM.

We offer the America's Boating Course, a USPS public boating course for the classroom setting or an online boating course for anyone who is interested in taking a class from home

Our public boating course is accepted as qualification for all boaters and personnel watercraft owners in Pennsylvania.
