Fort Worth Sail & Power Squadron

Scheduled Public Boating Courses

Our Education Page has details on the courses available from USPS and other sources.

Classroom Course

We usually teach the course in one-day sessions, using a presentation version of America's Boating Course, about every other month throughout the year at the Lakeside City Hall or other convenient locations.  There is a small fee for the course materials, which can be shared.  The course itself is free.   There is also a fee for the Texas Parks & Wildlife certification, which is required for teen boaters.

There are no more classes scheduled for 2015, but we should be holding one in the spring of 2016.  Please call 817-343-0013 for more info.

Confirm the class information and make a reservation on the USPS web site at:

From Northwest Loop 820 in Fort Worth, take Hwy 199 (Jacksboro Hwy) toward Azle.  Take the Confederate Park Rd. exit (FM 1886) and turn left (west).  Go about one mile.  The City Hall is on the right (north side of the road), just before the water tower.  Classes are held in the City Council chambers.

We can also arrange to teach the class to groups at a convenient place and time.

The computer-based, home study version of our course is available for purchase or online instruction at America's Boating Course.

Seminars and Learning Guides

USPS has several short seminars that can be taught to the public.  These present specific information about topics of interest to boaters such as GPS, Marine Radio, Weather, etc.   We don't have any scheduled at this time, but give us a call if you are interested in one.

We also several Learning Guides.  These are booklets that provide information on boating-related topics.
