What We Do


Boater Education

Through classes, seminars and on-water training, we teach boating skills and safe boating to new boaters or experienced boaters who want to learn new skills or refresh existing skills.  For a list of our currently scheduled classes, visit: RSPS Classes.

Boating Events

Richmond Sail and Power Squadron holds on-the-water events that start in April and run through October. These include weekend trips to destinations in the Chesapeake Bay and occasionally extended cruises.

Public Service

Richmond Sail and Power Squadron is an educational, social and public service organization. Some of our public service activities include Vessel Safety Checks (VSC), Cooperative Charting, James River Cleanup and support to other civic organizations.

Welcome Aboard!

Richmond Sail and Power Squadron is a boating club, based in Richmond, Virginia that focuses on boater education. It is also a social club combining meetings, on-the-water events, social activities, and public service. We are a part of the nationwide United States Power Squadrons®, and a member unit of District 5 which serves the squadrons of the Mid-Atlantic Region. Our boating activities primarily take place on the James, Rappahannock and Potomac rivers and the Chesapeake Bay.
