To become a full member of the USPS and WVSPS one must complete the basic boating course or the Boat Smart version. A Membership Application must be submitted to any Squadron Officer. Upon acceptance and payment of dues, a member may then pursue the various educational course given in the Squadron or at another Squadron. The membership entitles one to a subscription to the USPS magazine "ENSIGN" and other benefits such as a special rate VISA card with First USA Bank. In addition, there are discounts available with most boat insurers
