Membership in the Friday Harbor Power Squadron
  rope

Active membership in USPS is open to those 16 years and over who have passed the USPS Boating Course or Boat Smart examination (or equivalent), and who are able and willing to contribute time, energy, and skills to the objectives of USPS.
  What's in it for you?

A great variety of courses to choose from.
As a USPS member, you and your family can enroll in a great variety of advanced grades and elective courses which are only available to USPS members.  Go to Courses for details

Meeting with other boaters in your area.
You can’t beat the knowledge of our Squadron members! Share experiences about special places to visit and how to get there safely while exploring the beautiful waters of Washington, British Columbia and Alaska.  We meet on the first Thursday of each month from September through May.  Every summer, we even have a barbecue with Canadian power squadrons, hosted alternately by each country.

Participation in a variety of on water activities.
As a USPS member you're automatically invited to join in local squadron and district cruises, rendezvous, predicted log contests, raftings, and other on-water activities.

Savings on boat insurance.

Save with USPS Boat Insurance, computer hardware/software, navigation software (Nobeltec, C-Map, Maptech), West Marine discounts and much more!  Many marine insurance companies provide significant discounts to those members who complete our Squadron’s advanced boating courses.  Find out more at:

USPS networking with other members.
Thinking of boating in a river, lake or ocean far from your home? USPS has a Port Captain program which will provide names and telephone numbers of local USPS members who know the territory -- throughout the USA, Canada and even more distant areas.

Receive the FHPS monthly newsletter HARBOR LIGHTS.

Receive the District 16 publication CARDINAL POINTS.

Receive the official USPS magazine THE ENSIGN.
