The  Winooski Valley Sail and Power Squadron 

The Winooski Valley Sail & Power Squadron took form in May 1962 with 18 charter members . It is one of the nine squadrons that make up District 19 which has three squadrons in New Hampshire and five in Maine. The seven waves in the burgee represent the fact that Winooski Valley was the seventh to join the District. Presently, WVSPS  has over 100 members concentrated mainly among the towns and cities on the Vermont shores of beautiful Lake Champlain -- the west coast of New England. Organized in 1914, the USPS is a non profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in seamanship, navigation and related subjects. Our members are boating families who contribute to their communities by promoting safe boating through education. We enjoy participating with our fellow members on the water and in the classroom. USPS has some 60,000 members organized into 450 squadrons across the country and in some US territories. USPS is the world's largest non-profit boating organization and has been honored by three US presidents for its civic contributions.

District 19

District 19 is one of the 33 districts of the United States Power Squadrons®, the world's largest private, non-profit boating organization. District 19 includes squadrons in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, and extends from Lake Champlain on the west to the Gulf of Maine on the east, with many great lakes and rivers in between! District 19 currently represents ten squadrons with around 1000 members.
