USPS®'s Boating Courses and Seminars
America's Boating Course is conducted over eight class hours, in four evenings. The subjects covered are: Boat handling, docking, anchoring, knots & lines, trailering, required equipment, marine radio, Aids to Navigation, Navigation Rules, PWC (Jet ski) operation, emergency situations, and Florida State regulations.There are homework questions at the end of each section to assist in the retention of the information presented. A proctored exam is given at the end of the class. Graduates are provided with a certificate and also a Florida FWC Boater Education Card. This card is required for legal operation, in Florida, of a motorboat (10 HP or greater) by operators born after Jan. 1, 1988.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for a free six months membership in the United States Power Squadrons (USPS) and take advantage of the other educational opportunities afforded to members.
